This is a set of the complete collection of 12 solid fine sterling silver ingots representing the famous stained glass Jerusalem Windows by Marc Chagall. These come in the original burgundy fitted folder, and are in excellent condition. The twelve windows are 1000 grains .999 fine antique silver. Each contains 2.050 Troy Ounces (ozt.) of Fine Silver. The set has a total of 24.6 Troy Ounces (ozt.) fine silver. The ingots measure approx. 2.25" high x 1.625" wide. The set is depicting the story of Genesis in Old Testament. Each bar depicts one of 12 tribes - Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, and Benjamin. Each medallion is struck with the exact image of one of Chagall's most treasured creations: the stained glass windows of the Synagogue of the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center, which is situated in the windswept hills of Jerusalem. There is wonderful detail, and raised portions on the subjects. The reverse side of each bar shows God's words speaking to that particular tribe, all the specific section in Genesis indicated. On the bottom, each is hallmarked 1000 gr. .999 fine silver, Mosaic Art 1974, made in Canada and serial number 876. This set portrays the beautiful art of Marc Chagall, teaches Biblical passages.
Chagall sanctioned The Jerusalem Windows as his only medallic art series...assuring uniqueness and rarity, enhancing its value, and guaranteeing the perfect acquisition for the discriminating collector.
